The more budget friendly way to get an HK SL8 back into it’s G36 roots is a rear stock block made by HDPS. This allows you to install any standard G36 stock and use a G36 lower. It isn’t 100% correct though as you can see in the first and last photo, there are two little windows at the rear of the receiver.
Those windows contain the serial number, date code and factory stampings. Because of this, the HDPS stock block adds to the overall length of pull. This can be good for some people, but bad for others since it can be uncomfortable to shoulder. You can sort of fix this by either getting the compact G36 stock or a collapsible version.

H&K G36 disassembled. Note the similarity between its bolt carrier group and that of the Armalite AR-180. The design of the G36’s bolt, bolt carrier group, and short-stroke gas piston system takes heavy influence from that of the AR-180, as most modern, piston driven rifles in 5.56x45mm do.
